FAQ

Do we need to be Glenhardie Country Club members to join the swim team?

Yes. In order to participate on the swim team, the swimmer and at least one parent or guardian must be members of Glenhardie Country Club. Club lifeguards who work at the pool are eligible to participate on the team even if they are not club members.

Does my child need to know how to swim?

Yes. Swimmers should be able to swim one full lap of the pool independently using any stroke (freestyle, backstroke, or even dog paddle) without stopping or touching the wall or bottom.

We will hold an evaluation during the first week of practice to ensure swimmers are comfortable completing a full lap. If a swimmer is unable to complete the lap requirement they will be put on pre-team.

For swimmers who are still developing their skills, private or group swim lessons can be a great way to build confidence and prepare for the team.

How are age groups determined?

Swimmers compete in age groups that are determined by their age as of June 1 of the current swim season. This means a swimmer’s age on that date will determine their age group for the entire summer season, even if they have a birthday later in the summer.

Age group divisions are set by the Schuylkill Valley Aquatic League (SVAL).

What is the payment policy?

Team registration fees cover the full summer season, including practices and meets.

Registration is completed during sign-up. Refund policies are outlined in the registration section, and refunds are not available after the designated deadline.

Are swimmers required to attend meets?

Yes. Swimmers are expected to participate in as many meets as possible. Meets are an important part of the swim team experience and allow swimmers to apply the skills they practice while representing the Glenhardie Gators.
